‘I didn’t know what to expect’: The Voice Australia co-host Renee Bargh talks fashion, Hollywood awards and quarantine
Renee Bargh flew home to Australia from Los Angeles during the coronavirus pandemic for her ‘dream job’ hosting The Voice. She reveals what it was really like being on-board the plane.

With her jetsetting lifestyle and love of fashion, it seemed only fitting for TV presenter and red-carpet host Renee Bargh to dress up for Stellar in looks inspired by global travel.
And while she won’t be traipsing the cobblestone paths of Italy or going on safari in Africa soon, Bargh is currently living out of a suitcase.
Although she is usually based in Los Angeles, where she interviews the likes of Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney for entertainment news show Extra, Bargh recently came home to Australia for her current gig as co-host of The Voice Australia alongside Darren McMullen. Which meant she had to make the long-haul flight from LA to Sydney mid-pandemic.
“I didn’t know what to expect,” says Bargh.
“The plane felt quite eerie because there was no-one on there. I think there were 20 or 30 people … and usually on that flight, there’s not one spare seat.”
This year saw Bargh take on the role left vacant by Sonia Kruger and she tells Stellar it has been a dream job for her.
“Getting to work with Delta [Goodrem] and Guy [Sebastian] and Darren … it’s just like having your family around you on set. It feels like coming home to me.”
Once filming wraps, the self-confessed “terrible over-packer” will once again be on the move to resume her shooting commitments on Extra.
Though when she lands back in LA, the glitz and glamour of Hollywood movie premieres will still have been replaced by Zoom interviews.
Asked to forecast what the looming (and, at this point, slightly delayed) awards season may look like, Bargh answers with a laugh, “I can’t imagine Julia Roberts in a beautiful gown and a mask on the red carpet.”
