Media personality and designer Nadia Bartel is leaving her comfort zone to pursue a lifelong ambition.

It’s time to reimagine basic tank tops and ribbed cardigans, because winter is well and truly here.

And for Nadia Bartel, that means finding inspiration from an unexpected demographic.

“I love layering with knits, ribbing and long-line cardis, which are really in this season,” the Melbourne-based designer tells Stellar.

“I can’t believe I’m saying that, as years ago I never thought I’d be wearing a knitted cardigan.

“It’s funny the way fashion evolves. It’s a play on grandma-dressing – everything is quite oversized these days.”

The mother of two launched her own label, Henne – a line of elevated, classic wardrobe staples – in 2019, which for Bartel was a lifelong ambition.

She’s frequently spotted in her own designs and advises, “Henne is very wearable day-to-day, but I love mixing in higher-end fashion designers.”

Bartel says she was taken ever so slightly out of her fashion comfort zone at her Stellar shoot, but that it’s opened her up to mixing in more bold colours this season.

“I don’t wear a lot of red, but I liked wearing it in the shoot. I’m all about that – I like injecting colour here and there.

“Even if it’s something you bring in with your shoes or your bag.”
