Jimmy and Holly: ‘Friends said it was too soon’

This year’s Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson and his partner Holly Kingston talk to Stellar In Summer about what happened in their relationship when the cameras stopped rolling and why their friends were worried.

Falling in love on national television is not always a recipe for success when it comes to a long-lasting relationship, but for the 2021 Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson, the dating show led him to Holly Kingston, who he confirms to Stellar In Summer “is definitely the one”.

Lucky for Nicholson, the feeling is mutual. “It’s an unusual lead-in to a relationship but the connection was strong from the start,” Kingston reveals. “I knew I was in love with him and he felt the same.”

The pair moved in together as soon as they could, despite some hard questions from friends. “I had a lot of friends being like, ‘Are you sure you want to do this because it’s so soon? Maybe you should wait a bit,’” Kingston, 27, says.

“And I understood where they were coming from because we came out of a very artificial situation and were immediately moving in together, but in my gut it felt right.”

Nicholson adds: “We’ve been inseparable since and haven’t looked back.”

After the 32-year-old recently returned to his day job as pilot for Jetstar, Kingston has had a taste of life when her partner is away.

Nicholson’s career was a contentious topic for several of the women vying for his attention on The Bachelor, including runner-up Brooke Cleal, who admitted that if they were to end up together, she’d find it difficult to be left on her own for periods of time.

However, as Kingston tells Stellar In Summer, she feels the opposite. “I don’t mind spending some time on my own,” she explains.

“It’s healthy to have some time to yourself, and it’s a great opportunity to have my mum or some girlfriends over and watch trashy TV shows.”

Now that the pair are living together, fans are eager to know when they’ll take the next step.

“We’re not getting any pressure from our families and friends – they’ve all just been getting to know us as a couple, and coming out of lockdown we were able to finally spend time with

our families,” Kingston says.

Nicholson adds with a laugh: “But we do get comments and messages mostly on Instagram, asking when we’re going to get engaged or married or have babies – and the answer is not yet... But when we do, Stellar will be the first to know!”
