Model and fitness entrepreneur Tammy Hembrow knows the importance of physical health. But, as the 27-year-old notes, it’s equally important to maintain a mentally healthy lifestyle – especially as a busy working mum of two children, son Wolf, 6, and daughter Saskia, 5.

“It’s good for my mind to disconnect and take a break from the everyday chaos,”

she tells Stellar On Friday.

“It’s really important for me to take some time to myself, whether that’s putting on a face mask, listening to music, or having a facial. I also love to meditate and ground myself – it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I love to start my day with this.”

The Gold Coast-based businesswoman says she’s most comfortable when she’s “at the beach or in the gym. No make-up, with the kids, outdoors and active.”

And while she’s feeling lucky that Queensland is currently out of lockdown and she’s able to get back to her normal routine, she also realises how hard it is for her fellow Australians.

“I’m sending love to everyone in lockdown still. It’s a tough place to be, both physically and mentally.”

Trying to find a balance between motherhood and career hasn’t been easy, but Hembrow proudly declares that she’s capable of doing so much more than she had thought.

“School drop-offs, meetings, working out, packed lunches, running businesses, laundry...” she reels off with a laugh.

“It is possible to do it all!”

With almost 13 million Instagram followers, the fitness guru is a role model to many young girls and women – which she admits is daunting.

“I feel a lot of pressure sometimes to do and say the right thing,” Hembrow says.

“Everyone has an opinion on everything, and at the end of the day I’m just a normal human. I’ve learnt along the way that I’ll never be able to please everyone but it’s important for me to work on being the best version of myself every day.”
