Influencer Phoebe Burgess has revealed why she hasn’t had sex for years, following her high-profile split with ex-NRL player Sam Burgess.

Phoebe Burgess, an influencer who was previously married to NRL player Sam Burgess, has revealed she’s remained celibate since their high-profile divorce.

In a candid chat on her podcast, Under the Gloss, Phoebe explained that she’s still on “dry land” regarding dating.

Speaking with media personality Nikki Gemmell, who has recently written about her choice to give up sex during her menopausal era, the two discussed the realities of being celibate.

Phoebe admitted she finds it frustrating that people assume she’s sexless from a place of bitterness.

“It’s funny, isn’t it? How we get like smacked over the head with a label,” she said.

“You’re perimenopause. I’m divorced, bitter ex-wife. And it’s these roles that we kind of have to assume. We are both sexless women.”

Phoebe’s honest admission took Gemmell by surprise.

“You too? Really?” she said.

“Well, I got divorced in 2019, I think. It was a good year for me. And yeah, no, I haven’t.”

Phoebe went onto explain that she feels being sexless has given her a sense of freedom.

“I’m 33. But associating a post-sex life or sort of missing my sex has gone missing from my life. I’ve deeply associated that with a sense of freedom,” she said.

Gemmell agreed, and Phoebe explained that she’s given up on sex to focus on herself.

“When people ask if I’m dating, I think, I’m not ready to give that up,” she said.

“I’ve been a serial monogamist my whole life, Nikki, and I haven’t had sex in three-and-a-half, nearly four years. You don’t have to share yours. And I’m, not I’m not ready to risk that freedom.”

Phoebe also admitted that she couldn’t even remember the last time she had sex.

The influencer spilt from her husband in 2019 after four years of marriage, two years after she discovered he’d been having an affair with a woman in Melbourne.

Sam is now an assistant coach for the Rabbitohs and appeared on Seven’s reality show SAS Australia.

Earlier this year he went public with new girlfriend Lucy Graham, and last week the couple announced they were expecting their first child.
