A young woman has been left stunned after her first date secretly recorded her before later uploading the “embarrassing” footage to TikTok.

Dating Advice: Red flags to look out for on a first date

A young woman has been left stunned after finding out her Bumble match secretly recorded her during their first date before later uploading the footage to TikTok in an apparent attempt to shame her.

Julia Waters claimed she was scrolling through the social media app the day after the date when she came across the clip, recorded by her date, a woman named Cailyn, The New York Post reports.

Cailyn’s video, which went viral – clocking up over 8.4 million views on TikTok – showed Julia talking across the table from her in the Texas Roadhouse restaurant where they agreed to meet for the first time.

Woman's response after date filmed her

“Why are all my Bumble matches always so weird?” she captioned the clip.

“This was so embarrassing.”

Cailyn covertly recorded Julia at the table, where she was seen saying: “I could get lost in your eyes … I want to travel the depths of the waters of your soul.”

She was cut off by Cailyn, who bluntly asked: “Can we get the bill?”

However, Julia continued to talk, saying: “Let’s dine and dash and run away like wild children.”

“Can I use the restroom?” Cailyn asked, in another apparent attempt to get away from Julia.

“The world is a restroom,” Julia nonsensically responded, before the clip cut off.

While recording a date without consent would usually be frowned upon, many viewers said Cailyn was right to be disappointed by Julia’s behaviour.

“I would’ve cried,” one commenter wrote.

Others speculated that Julia might have consumed illicit substances before the meet-up.

“I think she took something before to help with nerves and well … this happened,” one suggested.

“Oh wow, I’m sorry,” another said. “That must’ve been so uncomfortable for you, she was definitely rolling. Her pupils were huge.”

However, after coming across the footage on TikTok, a shocked Julia decided to brush off the public humiliation and poke fun at herself.

She stitched part of Cailyn’s clip before adding a video of herself reacting.

“Oh,” she stated, before humorously breaking into song, singing: “Oh my God.”

“Didn’t expect to see myself on my For You Page today,” she wrote beneath the video.

Some appreciated her sense of humour, with one encouraging her to continue being herself when dating.

“I genuinely LOVE your witty behaviour and randomness!” they wrote.

“Stay true to yourself. Everyone else just wouldn’t understand.”
