FORMER escort Amanda Goff, also known as Samantha X, has revealed she is in a relationship with Channel Seven journalist Ryan Phelan.
The couple went public with their relationship this week, sharing a happy snap on Instagram and discussing their relationship in several media interviews.
“We met when Amanda came in to promote her second book, Back On Top, and I asked her out on a lunch date,” Phelan, 42, told Fairfax Media’s Private Sydney column on the weekend.
“We have pretty much spent every day together since, I fell in love with Amanda, no one else, and that is who she is to me, Amanda, an outstanding mother and an outstanding woman.
“If anything she has achieved a lot in her career and given an industry a voice it didn’t have before.”
Goff announced she was retiring from the sex work industry last month. The 43-year-old mother said her new relationship with Phelan contributed to her decision.
“I knew it was time. The love we have deserved Amanda not Samantha, and I was ready to close on the chapter on Samantha,” Goff told Daily Mail Australia.
“Ryan and I are very much in love. He is the most beautiful man, not just on the outside but on the inside too. I’ve never smiled and laughed more in my life.
“What makes it more special is the love and support we get from our friends and family but most importantly both of our children.
“I’ve never felt I had to justify or defend my choices in life — if anything Ryan has allowed me to feel proud of my journey and many of the things I’ve accomplished on the way.”
Goff announced that she was “hanging up my Louboutins” in September.
“It is with great sadness, but also great excitement, that after six wonderful years as Samantha, I am hanging up my Louboutins to move on to a brand new life and new projects,” she wrote on her blog.
“This isn’t a ‘I’m taking a break but I’ll be back’ blog — this is it. The end of escorting for me, but the beginning of something even more wonderful.”
Goff has previously said she would continue to oversee her escort agency and had plans to expand her business.
She said she would also continue to be available to meet with men “but clothes strictly on” for “one-to-one life, love and relationship coaching”.
“I will still be involved in this wonderful industry, you will still see Samantha X pop up around you — in fact — I’m working hard to build the brand bigger and better,” Goff said.
