Birthday parties are escalating in rogueness in 2025.
From a "sweat shop" demand at Build-A-Bear, to a "tacky request" to pay the host mum a tip, 2025 had brought us some unprecedented entitlement on invitations.
And then there's this birthday invitation issued by an eight-year-old that we never saw coming - and will break your heart.

"It's my birthday, yay"
Mum Bree shared the story on TikTok.
"So my child brought home an invitation on Friday and said, 'Mum can I go to this party?' and I said yeah," she says.
Bree thought it was strange that the party was the next day, so they didn't need to RSVP.
"The invite read: it's my birthday, yay and on the back it said come over we're gonna play soccer, play FIFA, do trampolining - all this stuff."
So, expecting a fun and simple at-home shindig, Bree and her son set off for the event in the morning. But there were red flags immediately - and we don't mean festive bunting.
Bree says that when they arrived, the house seemed deserted.
"The birthday boy comes out, greets us, my son gives him a card, and we walk to the back..." where she was shocked by absolutely no decorations - or guests.
"Not one table, not one chair in sight, just his dad and his three uncles - that's it."
Increasing her suspicions, the dad appeared surprised to see them, especially when she explained they were there for "the birthday party".
"My wife's not home," he replied - which clearly indicated to Bree that this was not a real party... or a party at all.
"Like I said, no balloons, no chips, nothing - they didn't need to have that stuff but it was not a birthday party. I don't think there was any birthday party planned."
Bree says it was a very awkward situation but the boys were happily gaming, so she vowed in her head to stick it out for an hour.
When they finally left, her son argued with her in the car: "Yes it was a party, mum, they were gonna make chicken."

"He wanted friends over so badly"
People in the comments were so sad for the loneliness of the child, after making the assumption that "He wanted friends over so badly he made his own invitations."
They also applauded the mum for attending and staying. As one viewer said, "This kid is going to remember your son coming to his made up birthday party for the rest of his life."
Another added: "That one kid was all he needed; thank you for being that parent!"
Many also congratulated the boy for not being judgey and the non-event, such as this person who wrote, "At least you know your son is ready to rock for anyone. He doesn’t need decorations, cake, or even other guests ; that boy is ready to party."
But as always, there's trolls, and Bree was actually accused of being "racist" about the handmade invitation. In a follow up video, she held the 'invitation' up - a small piece of paper with some scrawling on it - retorting:
"Did you miss the part where I went to the party? So I obviously wasn't too concerned about the invitation.
"But this was the invitation my son brought home on a Friday, for a party that was on a Saturday. Of course I questioned it!"
She added, "And before you call me racist, I'm literally Mexican. I just wasn't sure if this invitation was legit or not."
What we love about this is that she still took her son, anyway.
