The adorable TikTok trend that's helping toddlers give up their dummies for good

One mum has gone viral for her genius spin on the 'Dummy Fairy' idea. But it's her daughter's gorgeous reaction that has everyone talking.

The TikTok trend that's helping toddlers to give up their dummie

A mum has shared her spin on the 'Dummy Fairy' idea to get her toddler to give up her dummy once and for all.

Instead of the usual present or toy to replace the popular soothers, the mum asks her daughter to 'water' some soil where she's buried the dummy in the garden. The next day, cake pops and doughnuts have miraculously 'grown' in the same place.

It's an adorable play on an age-old trick to eliminate the dummy, but it's actually the girl's beautiful reaction that has captured everyone's hearts.

"She buried her dummies for the dummy fairy to take them"

Posting to her account, @erindomin, mum Erin shared the heart-warming clip, which now has 5.3 million views, 682k likes and over 3200 comments.

She captioned it: "Dummy fairy came today… her reaction is the sweetest ever."

In the video, she helps her three-year-old water the garden where she "buried her dummies for the dummy fairy to take them."

"Grow, grow, grow!" she says as she encourages her toddler to hose the soil down well.

Then she tells her: "Now we wait!"

The next day, her daughter excitedly runs outside to check on the dummies and SQUEALS when she sees what the fairy left for her.

A dozen pink, white and chocolate cake pops and doughnuts have 'grown' overnight and stick out of the soil like flowers.

Upon discovering them, her toddler exclaims: "THAT'S SO SPECIAL!" then looks at the camera and says, "Thank you fairy!!"

She seems to completely believe in the magic and that the dummies are gone, so safe to say she won't be asking for them any time soon. Nice one, mama!

"This is what childhood is all about"

The comments were filled with praise for the mum, with many people saying they were going to steal the idea themselves.

"This is such a beautiful representation of your parenting. You should be proud mama," one woman said.

Another observed, "Kids believing in magical things is so special."

A third wrote: "Genius. Definitely going to do this when it’s time for my little one to give up her dummy."

"That excited scream is the sweetest I’ve heard! " someone else commented.

"I just showed this to my two-year-old, now she believes it could happen to her if we do the same with her dummies. I love this idea," replied another.

"What a sweet memory for your girl to have. This is what childhood is all about!" a different woman posted.

Others just shared the brutal (and hilarious) ways their parents made them give up theirs!

"My mum just threw mine out the damn window of the car," one commenter shared.

"One of my core memories is mum making me stand on a stool to chuck mine in the wheelie bin," said another Aussie.

"My dad just got fed up and just threw them all out, cold turkey style," another laughed.

And this person shared a cute anecdote: "I work for a zoo and I’ve had parents get their kids to give their dummies to me for the baby animal I’m holding because 'they need it more'."

"I did it. I'm a big girl"

Lots of mums have also jumped on the trend and shared their own versions of the trick.

One American mum shared this clip captioned: "Tried the Pacifier to cake pops trend." Her kids' reactions were equally as cute and we love the addition of pink glitter to help the cake pops 'pop'!

And this woman let her daughter dig the hole and was "rewarded with treats for being a big girl."

And we love dads getting involved too. These parents helped their daughter bury her "binky" (dummy) and then filmed the sneaky behind-the-scenes process of planting the cake pops.

Their daughter was very proud of herself the next day, announcing: "I did it. I'm a big girl."
