Restaurant slammed for discounting parents for 'insane' reason

"Having someone make a judgement call on every single table with kids is ridiculous," read one reaction to the news.

We've all heard countless stories about kids misbehaving in public and running amok in restaurants - but what about the well-behaved kids? Why do we never hear about them?

Well, now is the time. A restaurant has recently launched an initiative to recognise parents with well-behaved kids by giving them a discount on their meals.

Diners at the New York eatery recently received $10.25 off under the new system, which is designed to encourage 'good parenting'.

Many loved the genius idea online, while others said it meant kids couldn't be kids.

"We need the carrot and the stick"

On Reddit, one user said, "I would absolutely 100 per cent give a massive discount to well-behaved children at my job. I work at a toy store."

Another suggested that the restaurant take it a step further and "add a 10 per cent surcharge if they poorly behave."

"We need the carrot and the stick on this one," they added.

"It really means 'well-behaved parents'. I used to take my kids out of the restaurant and let the rest of the family and customers eat in peace whenever one of my kids acted up. Most parents did at the time. I don't see that happen very often nowadays," one parent remarked.

Others, however, raised concerns about the logistics of implementing the rule.

"Now I want to see some lady demanding the discount because she thinks her brats are well-behaved," one user wrote.

"It's begging to set the worst kinds of people off (having such a discount kind of is, already). No one gets paid enough to deal with that s***," another expressed.

"I can see this causing problems," someone else echoed.

And a different Redditor said, "There's just so many things that could be contested here."

"They're not going to be well-behaved all the time. That's life"

Meanwhile, others were openly against the idea altogether.

"As someone who has what people continue to refer to as a 'well-behaved' baby, I think this is really stupid. Kids are people; they're human beings, and not all of them are going to be 'well-behaved' all the time. That's life," one mum shared.

"I'll let my kids run a f**king rampage on their $10," another joked.

"This is insane and dumb for a restaurant. Having someone make a judgement call on every single table with kids (unless it's a literal guarantee to make them come back) is ridiculous," a third lamented.

"What if the family gets the discount, comes back, and then doesn't get it? Manager will probably get involved," one finally concluded.

What do you think about this discount? Fair ,or a logistical nightmare waiting to happen?
