No RSVP? No fun!

"NO RSVP = NO Food Provided"
Three weeks prior to the party, the mum sent invitations for her eight-year-old’s birthday, requesting that parents RSVP the week prior.
She sent a follow up invite requesting responses so that she could cater to food allergies.
“I also put on the invites that once I got an RSVP I would provide food options for their party food box. This was put on both invites: NO RSVP = NO Food Provided,” she said.
All up she invited 40 children to attend, but only got back 32 confirmed RSVPs.
“I did the 32 boxes and set up the party. You guessed it, two extra rock up from school,” she revealed.
To rub salt in the wound they arrived late, the parents simply dropped them off at the door and they didn’t even bring a card.
“Their children weren't fed. The mums were not happy when their children told them when they collected them - 15 mins late may I add,” the mother complained.
After years of planning parties, she’s exhausted by the expense of parties not being worth the effort. There’s even been instances that having an RSVP from a child hasn’t led to them actually showing up.
“One of the school mums I have known for 10 plus years couldn't believe I said it and went through with it," the mother said.

"You've punished the children"
However, she’s since wondered if her decision was too brutal. So, she took to the forum, Mumsnet, to find out if she made the right call.
Commenters seemed to back her, calling her decision fair.
“Absolutely not unreasonable. They had several chances to reply,” one parent responded. Another praised, “Good on you!”
Some thought that she still should have made allowances.
“I would have still made up a few standard boxes up,” one person suggested.
“I would have done a few extra, because you've punished the children for their parent's thoughtlessness,” another agreed.
The mother said at previous parties she's hosted she made up spares only for them to go to waste.
“Yes, I was a cheapskate. I had a tight budget - also places to be,” she said in response.
