A British reality star who is currently expecting her first child has furiously hit back after being cruelly trolled for eating sushi whilst heavily pregnant.

Megan McKenna, who has starred in a string of popular UK TV shows including Ex on the Beach, The Only Way I Essex and Celebrity X Factor which she won in 2019, has recently enjoyed a burst of online popularity thanks to her impressive cooking videos.

McKenna, 31, got the bug for creating culinary masterpieces after two successful Celebrity MasterChef stints and now shares daily recipes with her fans online.

However, the former TOWIE star has recently attracted criticism over a recent food choice, after she decided to serve up sushi for dinner, The Sun reports.

McKenna, who is currently expecting her first child with fiance Oliver Burke, took to social media to reveal she’d made gluten-free sushi roll, writing: “I just made gf sushi and it tasted great.

“I mean it took me a while to roll and work it out but I’m so proud! I’m so tired of reading the back of sushi packets and it ALL containing wheat!! Why?

“Anyway making it at home is way safer and makes me eat it with full enjoyment.”

The TV star went on to share a small pregnancy update with her 2.8 million followers.

“Had a pregnancy massage today… wow it’s needed now! As you can see the baby is growinggggg!!!” she continued.

“It’s also been moving and rolling and kicking so much! It’s the best feeling in the world. Apart from when it knocks me down below, then that’s not such a great feeling haha.”

However, the star was left hounded by unexpected criticism underneath the post, The Sun said.

“I didn’t think you could eat raw fish when pregnant well at least that is what my doctor advised me,” one fan barked at McKenna.

Another similarly added: “I could have swore shellfish was off the menu when I was pregnant?”

But McKenna wasted no time in letting her fans know that what she was eating was in fact safe for her.

“It’s not raw,” she clapped back at one concerned commenter.

“If it’s cooked it’s ok,” she said to another.

NSW Food Authority states that pregnant women should avoid raw seafood, but can eat cooked fish and seafood, as long as it is thoroughly cooked to at least 63C and eaten while hot.

Foods to avoid are listed for a range of reasons, but in most cases there is a higher risk that they may contain harmful bacteria such as listeria or salmonella.

Earlier this week, McKenna defended herself against cruel trolls who claimed her lips were puffy another cooking video.

The TV star said she was “sick” of people accusing her of having work done, explaining she would never take such a risk, especially considering her journey to pregnancy.

“No! Sick of people saying this. Pregnancy has made my face puff a tiny bit,” she said.

“Do you really think I’m going to get cosmetics during my IVF journey and pregnancy?!!!!! Come on.

“Saying ‘wtf’ literally judging before even having an answer. Please leave my page.”
