A pole dancing school is facing fierce backlash after offering dancing for mums and their children

Pink Pole Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, has classes designed for all kinds of pole and aerial dancing lovers.

Some of their featured classes include the “Freshman”, “College”, and “Burlesque” series. But it was their “Mummy and Me” class that really had people talking.

Company slammed for “Mummy and me” pole dancing classes

The classes are designed for mothers and their kids (aged four and up) to practice and show off their pole skills.

According to the company, this day has been three years in the making and aims to “break stigmas and set the bar.”

Footage from the company’s Instagram page shows the class, which showed kids as young as four in workout clothes twisting around the pole and showing off their impressive expertise.

The class, according to Pink Pole, parents are encouraged to take their tackers “for spins, tricks, and climbs” and is intended to be a “fun learning experience for both.”

The first Mummy and Me class took pace on 6th January, but the company has assured its attendees that it would become a regular occurrence.

“Remember that—it's here to stay,” the caption read.

“If you’re a pole dancer with a kid, the kid wants to spin”

Both critics and fans of the concept were unable to share their thoughts on the company’s Instagram account, but it didn’t stop them from expressing their opinions about the controversial classes elsewhere online.

“In my personal opinion, pole dancing doesn't need to be for the kids,” a concerned person wrote.

Some called the concept “out of line” and argued it was “not a kids’ sport”, unlike gymnastics or dance.

Some had no issue with the classes, considering they encourage physical activity and strength training, but many took umbrage with the footage being shared online.

“I think it’s very irresponsible of that mummy and me pole dancing studio to record and upload videos featuring kids in their workshops,” one person wrote.

“There’s nothing wrong with teaching the babies if the babies ask for it and are having fun,” another agreed. “But why does it need to be recorded?”

Some saw no issue at all with the classes.

“It’s a mummy and me class, and I think it’s very cute,” a defender wrote. “Pole dancing is amazing, whole body fitness.”

“Mummy and Me pole is very common, it’s just when our content gets to the regular folk,” said another. “If you’re a pole dancer of any kind with a kid, the kid wants to spin.”
