I'm a stay-at-home lazy mum who hates cleaning; my house is a pigsty

"I'm a mum, not a maid. I simply do not clean up after myself or my kids," the woman said while showing her messy house.

If there's anything that can make us feel better about our ever-increasing pile of laundry and rooms scattered with toys, it's seeing realistic house tours from self-confessed 'lazy mums' on TikTok.

One such video doing the rounds at the moment is from mum-of-two, Amanda Rose.

As she films her 'morning as a lazy stay-at-home-mum', she takes her followers through her messy kitchen, piled high with dirty plates, empty wrappers and food left out overnight.

"I just do not clean up after myself or my kids"

"I wake up to my house looking like this every morning," Amanda begins the vlog in her kitchen.

She then gets to work cleaning up the house.

She scrapes food into the bin from last night's dinner and breakfast the day before, then puts ingredients and food back into the pantry and fridge.

"You might be wondering, how the hell do you let it get this bad?" she says, "but if I'm being completely truthful, I really just do not clean up after myself. Also, I have two kids, so you can imagine the mess."

She acknowledges that while "there are some people that simply can't go to bed without their house being clean" she's "the complete opposite."

"I'm like, please just let me go to bed," she admits.

"I feel like if I were to clean constantly through the whole day, that is what my day would only consist of," the mum continues. "Yes, I'm a stay-at-home mum but I'm not a maid."

"Cleaning is the duty of being a stay-at-home mum and I am cleaning but I will just do one big clean and then let my kids mess it up all day again. So if you think my house is disgusting that is fine, I mean, I’m sure yours would be too if you didn’t clean all day every day."

"I have six kids and my house is not like this..."

While her confession was refreshing for some viewers, Amanda correctly predicted that people would think her house is "disgusting."

"Don't you get pests... leaving that much food out? Cockroaches? one person asked, among the 6.8k other comments.

"I HATE cleaning but no way I could go to bed with food out like that," someone else chimed in.

"Girl, at least pick up food leftovers," urged a third, while a fourth said: "I have six kids and my house is not like this..."

Other commenters encouraged her to get her kids to help put their rubbish away if they were old enough.

"I'm the same as you"

Then some said they have the exact same outlook as Amanda.

"I don't think I have related to someone as much as you," said one fellow mum.

Another commenter wrote: "I get it, cleaning as you go feels like a never-ending task and the satisfaction of a big clean is so good."

"I’m the same as you!!! Life is too short to spend it cleaning all day," concluded a different woman.

In other follow-up videos, Amanda showed what a typical laundry day looks like in her household as well as a full house tidy up, showing clothes, toys and rubbish strewn all over the place.

She says she films these sorts of videos to "normalise this sort of stuff."

"It may not be normal for some people, but for some of us, this is normal."
