A mum has faced criticism online after revealing her unusual habit during the afternoon school pick-up.
While waiting at the school gates as children pour out of their classrooms, Nicole Alder stands among the parents eager to reunite with their kids.
But unlike others waiting with open arms, Nicole is waiting with a plate of hot food for her daughter.

"Eats in the car"
It seems that killing two birds with one stone can work in almost any situation—even squeezing in dinner on the way home from school.
The etiquette of sitting down at the dinner table as a family may be fading, and Nicole is among those looking to ditch tradition.
Taking to TikTok, the mum shared her time-saving "night routine hack" that has worked well for her family.
“Take a full school dinner on the school run,” she captioned the post.
On the menu: rice, corn and six chicken dippers.
“She eats that in the car and then she can snack till her heart is content,” Nicole explained.
However, viewers were quick to raise concerns about the practicality of her idea.
Questions poured in about how secure the dish is during the drive and whether it might be worth investing in Tupperware.

"She can wait 10 minutes to get home?"
Not everyone was on board with Nicole's approach.
One person asked: “She can’t wait 10 minutes to get home?”
“Ridiculous. Make her wait until she’s home. Who is the adult?” another commented.
“My kids would die of embarrassment if I did this,” a third added.
Amid the criticism, there were some words of encouragement.
“We listen, but we don’t judge,” one supportive comment read.
“Well done! You’re a great mum,” another wrote.

Nicole insists this routine is what works best for her family.
“It makes my life so much easier," Nicole explained.
"Cook dinner before school run, clean up before school run. All I do when home is put the plate and cutlery in the dishwasher and we can chill all evening."
It's true that what works for one family might not work for another—but this routine keeps Nicole happy and stress-free.
