‘I got pregnant six weeks after giving birth - people judge, but I’m blessed’

“I wanted more kids, I just didn’t expect it to happen this fast!” Queensland mum Carly says in the video.

For the entirety of Carly’s life, she was told she’d never be able to have a baby.

Doctors informed the Queensland woman she was infertile and, devastatingly, would likely never be able to start a family of her own.

So, she was overjoyed when she found out she was pregnant in late 2022, defying the odds of her doctor’s diagnosis

She welcomed her son, Siope, in February, and her entire world transformed. Little did she know she’d be expecting another baby a few weeks after giving birth to her first.

Mum finds out she's pregnant six weeks after giving birth

“I was always told I would never fall pregnant naturally”

The Queensland mum took to her social media platform to announce the happy news.

“Leaving the hospital excited to not be pregnant anymore,” she captioned the clip, alongside a picture of newborn Siope asleep in his car seat.

“Six weeks later…” she says, holding up a positive pregnancy test before checking the result for herself, her mouth agape in shock.

According to the Australian mum, it feels like she’s “been pregnant forever.”

Despite saying she didn’t want to be pregnant anymore, she knew she wanted to have more kids in the future, opting to stop taking birth control after the birth of Siope.

“I wanted more kids; [I] just didn’t expect it to happen this fast,” she laughed.

According to HealthLine, doctors recommend waiting between four to six weeks after giving birth to have sex again as your body continues to recover from the stress of delivering a baby.

Clearly, Carly and her partner took that advice as merely a suggestion, explaining she “fell pregnant at six weeks after clearance.”

She later revealed she had a natural labour and was given clearance by her doctor after healing “really well.”

“How is your hooha still not super sore?”

The clip has quickly gone viral since it was uploaded, reaching more than 11 million views, but not everyone was jumping for joy over their happy news.

“No judgement, but aren’t you supposed to wait six weeks after birth before being intimate again?” someone queried. “Just asking cause that is what my Dr told me for safety.”

“You couldn’t wait?” another person wrote.  “Do you need me to buy you guys a TV?” someone laughed.

“How is your hooha still not super sore for at least four weeks after,” another wondered.

People weren’t shy about their feelings, with some labelling the pregnancy news as “irresponsible.”

“No way,” read a shocked comment. “I need to give my little one the attention [they] deserve before even thinking of getting pregnant again.”

“Couldn’t be me,” someone said. “I didn’t want my husband near me for a solid year post-delivery first time around.”

Those who went through the same experience were far less judgemental. “Mine are 10 months apart,” a proud mum said. “I call them my Irish twins.”

The term “Irish Twins” refers to babies that are born less than 12 months apart and can be traced back to the 19th century as a way to mock Irish Catholic immigrants who couldn’t access birth control.

"This was me, five weeks!" another parent laughed. "My girls are the best of friends."

"Do you, girl!" a happy fan shared. "If you're happy, then congratulations!"
