Lara Pitt: my whole life is an NRL game

It’s 24/7 NRL in Fox Sports presenter Lara Pitt’s world and not necessarily by choice.

Fox Sports host Lara Pitt is used to the rough and tumble of professional rugby league, but it’s a whole new ball game when she gets home to her family.

“The house and the whole living environment is like a sporting field,” she says. “Our lounge room is like a wrestling-football sports field all at once. It’s chaos.”

With three young boys, Lachlan, Cooper and Hamish, and until recently, the late Max the puggle, keeping their townhouse neat and tidy can be challenge, not that she’s fussed about that.

“It’s a house of energy,” she laughs. “It’s modern family style. We have some modern pieces like the Jardan chairs which are special but we have stuff that the kids can climb on, too.”

And while living and breathing sport is her day job, watching her kids play sport is a favourite thing to do at weekends.

“I love taking the boys to their footy matches and watching their love of sport grow,” she says.

Later this year, Lara, who wishes there had been the opportunity to play girls rugby league when she was growing up, has a Milford Sound, NZ trek planned with her besties.

“I’m trying to get fit for the walk but mostly looking forward to being off the grid and amongst nature for a few days. My dad and brother did it, so if they can do it, I can do it.”

Who Lara Pitt.
Where The eastern beaches of Sydney with my husband Anthony (founder of Academy Brand), our sons Lachlan, 7, Cooper, 5, and Hamish, 2, and until recently, the late puggle Max, 15, who has sadly passed away after our photo shoot (pictured).

Favourite thing Apart from the location and sunny aspect, the original owners put in so many cupboards and storage, which is incredible because we have accumulated so much stuff. Inspiration Natural tones, modern family friendly style.
Home means Wrestling, laughing, cubby-housing, cooking, learning, sharing, hiding, yelling, sleeping, loving.

FOOSBALL TABLE

A present for my eldest son for his 6th birthday, the Foosball table lives in our front room and is good fun for the little kids AND the big kids! Anything that burns off their energy will always be among my favourite things.

FUJI-DCV CASSETTE CIRCA 2006

I haven’t got anything to play it back on (thankfully) but the cassette contains the very first voice over news story I put together whilst on work experience.

JARDAN CHAIRS

Our house is very open plan but prior to Covid we tried to create a little kid-free zone for adults to chill. These Jardan chairs were the perfect fit! It’s a task keeping the kids off them though – they spin around … proving to be pretty irresistible.

AQUABUMP PRINTS
We have two massive Aquabump prints in our lounge which were a gift for my husband’s 40th birthday. Photographer Uge is famous for his prints of Bondi and across the globe.

BACCARAT ROUGE CANDLE

My sister-in-law put me on to this fragrance which comes in perfume too. I wear it every day and was given the candle as a present. I am yet to light it because I don’t want to use it up!

HOME-MADE PHOTO ALBUMS

I love photos – the boys will grab them and sit on the couch to look back at themselves as babies, on holidays, celebrating birthdays or stuck in lockdown.

MY DAD’S BIOGRAPHY

My dad Andrew escaped from communist Hungary to Australia as an 18-year-old with nothing but a leather satchel and speaking little English. His story is one we all respect and admire so much and it was so special to put together this biography for his 80th.
