Favourite thing Dobbermans Leroy and Gracie are just so much a part of our lives and come to work with me. People see them as big scary dogs but they are incredibly smart and so easy to train. They are so loyal they would literally give you their life
Inspiration I love renovating and building. I love the creative process of renovating homes. It’s a real passion of mine
Home is Where I can relax
Janine Allis made a name for herself as the founder of Boost Juice, but she is also investing in other people’s innovations as a mentor on Shark Tank.
She is also a mother of four children, so it’s hard to imagine Janine has much time to herself, but this entrepreneur is managing the difficult balance of work and home just fine.
“I work well when I am busy,” she says. “The brain is a muscle that needs to be used all the time and I am very much involved and hands on with my business. I also try not to have any appointments before 11am so I can do my yoga in the morning, clean up emails and take my daughter (Tahlia, 8) to school,” says Janine. “After 20 years, I think I’ve gotten the balance right.”
Having raised three boys, Samuel, 26, Oliver, 20, Riley, 18, Janine says she is a bit of a “rough and tumble mum”, but having a little girl later in life has brought out a more nurturing side, which she is relishing.
Clearly Janine is not shy of hard work, and despite her already mountainous workload, she is also quite capable home renovator.
She has lived in her current home in Malvern East for eight years.
“This house had great bones, but it was covered in green carpet when we bought it.”
Janine also handled the renovation of their coastal property, and the family is in the process of renovating their next home in Armadale, Melbourne.
“I like to have a new project to work on,” she says. “It’s not like I don’t have enough on.”

MY FAVOURITE THINGS
Nautilus shell Nautilus shells only get washed up on the shore on a full moon, so to find one is incredibly rare. The beach is my special place.
Blender I am very much a liquid person. I can’t cook that well but I make a great smoothie, My morning ritual is to make a smoothie and put everything good in there that I require.
Painting I was at a yoga retreat in the lotus position and my husband took a photograph, which he then took to an artist to paint. in that moment I was relaxed and calm.
Surfboard When I turned 40, I took up surfing, horse riding and yoga. I certainly don’t have style or grace in the surf, but getting on that board has to be one of my all-time favourite things.
Yoga book I use this book to understand the yoga poses, which can be really hard. This is the second book in a four-part series, and it can take up to 10 years to get through them.
Rings My husband bought me these. Each ring symbolises our children. I am not a big jewellery person, but that signifies something special to me.
