The search is on for a Queensland driver who was captured on CCTV footage throwing a kitten out the passenger-side window of a vehicle in a suburban street.
Video of the incident filmed from the front door of a Caboolture home on Thursday, January 28, shows a black early model Honda CRV or possibly a Hyundai creeping along a quiet street.
The driver then does a U-turn shortly before 7pm and brings the car to a standstill on Floral Drive.
The kitten is then flung a number of metres out the window before the car speeds off down the street.
The RSPCA released the footage hoping someone might recognise the car and report the cruel incident.
“We’re not entirely sure of the make but if anyone has any information we’d urge them to call 1300 ANIMAL,” the association’s Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty said on Tuesday.
The 10-week-old brown tabby has since been examined by a vet and is now with a foster carer.
The kitten, named Zuma by its temporary carer, is due to receive further veterinary assessments on Wednesday.
A similar incident was caught on film in Melbourne recently, showing a driver of a silver Mercedes Benz allegedly dumping a Jack Russell dog in scorching heat.
Nicole Crossley was mowing a nature strip in Mickleham, 40km north of Melbourne, about 11am on Sunday January 24, when she noticed the vehicle drop the dog by the side of the road.
She managed to capture a grainy photograph of the vehicle with the dog running alongside before both disappeared around a corner.
Despite a search for what she said was more than 1.5 hours, she failed to locate the dog.
“At 11am today, being 33 degrees already, this car pulled up on the corner of Mount Ridley Road and Farleigh Court in Mickleham and dumped the small dog as seen in the picture,” Ms Crossley wrote in a Facebook group for missing pets.
“The poor little one chased and kept up with car for a while on foot … but I lost sight of it after it approached the bend.”
