THE finalists in the Display Home categories at this year’s HIA-CSR NSW Awards have certainly upped the ante, with open-plan living homes streaming with natural light and incorporating outdoor areas in almost all designs.
We’ve highlighted one entrant per category to show the features and amenities submitted for each.

The single storey Livingstone 22 is the biggest of the four floorplans offered under the Livingstone banner. Parents won’t be able to find fault with this design, which has the main bedroom at the front of the home well away from the secondary bedrooms. The kitchen with walk-in pantry is another highlight, The living and dining rooms are close by, as is the study, allowing parents to oversee their children’s homework and monitor their internet use.

If children could choose which home their parents should build, this one would garner quite a few votes. The home’s design, with the kitchen/living and dining in proximity to the alfresco area, takes into account the needs of the youngest members of the family. The three secondary bedrooms at the rear wrap around the main bathroom and a children’s activity area. Parents are taken care of too, with the main bedroom at the front of the home, where they can enjoy some peace and quiet.

There are seven floorplans in the Newton group of designs, ranging from 17sq to 27sq. What makes the Newton 24 special is all four bedrooms are stacked to the left of the design, while the right side incorporates a double garage, with well-sized open-plan kitchen dining and leisure areas directly behind it. An alfresco area opens out from the leisure/living room.

If living large appeals to you, then the Huntley 30 is well worth a tour.
