A DOG has been hailed a hero after saving a toddler from crawling into the sea while his mum’s back was turned.

Truly man’s best friend, the dog was filmed as he spotted the curious youngster crawling towards crashing waves on a beach in Turkey and sprinted to steer him away.

The dog lies in the baby’s way so he can’t crawl any closer. The bub is only metres from the water’s edge when mum comes running to grab him.
