A WOMAN who police believe was high on synthetic marijuana walked into a Subway store, stripped naked, and started “breaking everything she could find”.

Nikki Abrell, 35, went into the Subway store in Anchorage, Alaska, on Tuesday and immediately went into the toilet. She emerged two hours later completely naked — but that was only the start of the strange and destructive behaviour.

Police allege Ms Abrell began removing ceiling tiles, throwing food and breaking furniture, Sergeant Shaun Henry told KTVA.com.

“She disrobed, went fully nude and kinda just went nuts,” he added. “Started breaking furniture, destroyed the store, knocked over computers, ripped the ceiling down, sprayed a fire extinguisher all over, locked herself in the bathroom for awhile, broke just about everything you could find.”

Ms Abrell was arrested at the scene and charged her with third-degree criminal mischief, harassment and resisting arrest, reported The New York Post.

Police believe she was under the influence of synthetic or ‘weaponised’ marijuana, also known as spice or K2, which has lead to users having psychotic episodes.

They have described her as ‘a little crazy’,” Sergeant Henry said.

After she was arrested Abrell managed to break out of a handcuff and “threw her arms forward”, according to charging documents seen by KTVA.com

She could not hold a conversation and could only “murmur”.

The building maintenance supervisor told police the damage to the restaurant was estimated at more than $20,000.

An employee said he also found human waste on the floor when he began cleaning up.

“She did a significant amount of damage and it’s gonna take awhile to fix the store,” Sergeant Henry said. “It’s a mess.”

He told KTVA the woman’s violent reaction to the drug was not unusual.

“You see all kinds of behaviour. Some people just lay down and go to sleep. Other people become extremely hostile or violent. You never know what you’re going to get and that’s part of the danger with it is you don’t know what it’s going to do to the human body and you get sometimes these very extreme reactions.”

People known to be on synthetic marijuana or ‘weaponised’ marijuana should not be approached.

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton told reporters in August users could also be immune to pain — which made traditional methods of arrest like capsicum spray and tasering not effective.

“So our officers encountering these individuals face more significant risk of having to subdue these individuals and potentially receiving injuries.”

He was commenting after a series of cases where people on weaponised marijuana had been arrested after violent outbursts.

Police in Australia have observed synthetic cannabis users running through plate-glass windows and attacking police cars while high.

“Synthetic cannabis is produced with man-made chemicals that create similar effects to delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in cannabis,” according to the Australian Drug Foundation website, which warns stroke and even death are possible.

“These powdered chemicals are mixed with solvents and added to herbs and sold in colourful, branded packets. It’s most commonly smoked and is sometimes drunk as a tea,” the website said.
