‘Disgusting’: Man’s gross act in pilates class

Men are increasingly becoming interested in pilates, much to the horror of some women who think classes are strictly for girls.

Men are being shamed online for attending boutique fitness classes like yoga and pilates, which are typically attended by mostly women, and for making loud noises such as grunting, slurping, and breathing heavily.

Their “annoying” behaviours are said to disturb the other attendees, with many gymgoers taking to TikTok to vent.

American content creator Alexandra Gulla ranted about one particular man who spoiled her hot yoga class recently by “doing push ups before class started” and making unnecessary noises.

She told viewers the classes are meant to be “zen, quiet and peaceful” and urged men to stop “taking up more space than they already naturally do”.

Men are flocking to female-dominated yoga and pilates classes — and women are enraged

“Why can’t you be seen and not heard?” she said in her now viral clip.

“We all secretly hate you,” she concluded, before being met with praise from her viewers.

“Men do not belong in hot yoga. They are loud as f**k and never make the space feel safer,” said one.

Another wrote, “They always need to be heard!”

“They also take up so much room, like move over sir!” a third added.

Others said the trend of males coming to pilates and yoga classes “drives them nuts” and they “can’t even keep up.”

Another woman, Riley, felt similarly and admitted in a video that her day is “automatically ruined” if a man shows up to her pilates class.

“Agreed,” one fan wrote. “Get out and read the room!”

“So true,” yet another chimed in, “Especially if they’re a gym bro. Let me have my peace.”

“Or when they make a show of grabbing heavier weights like WE GET IT,” voiced another.

One user said: “Sometimes men come in my pilates class for god knows why but when they breathe obnoxiously it’s so irritating. Like you’re in a woman’s space back off!!!”

“They’re never considerate,” ranted another woman.

“Had to stop going to morning hot yoga because a guy was sweating on my mat and that has never happened to me next to another girl,” one person commented.

However some called her comments “sexist” and branded her a “misandrist”.

“I’m an instructor and pilates isn’t for the girls only! This is so sexist,” one teacher said.

Yet another instructor said she “welcomed” grunting and growling as a method of “regulating breathing.”

“Pilates is for everyone,” claimed someone else.

Men then entered the comments section to admit they’re now scared to attend classes, given the judgment.

“Damn was thinking of going to one! Because I felt it would be a great glute workout since I never do them myself. Guess not now,” one man shared.

Meanwhile, some women said that they liked bringing their boyfriends or husbands to classes, with one joking: “I love to humble them.”

It comes amid a growing trend of men trying pilates, with TikTok filled with videos of musclebound guys on reformers, admitting it’s “harder” than they initially thought.
