Taco Bell’s next Australian city to open in is Melbourne as expansion continues in Queensland

US fast food chain Taco Bell have revealed the next Australian city they are targeting is Melbourne, which is part of their national roll out plan which is continuing in Queensland.

Popular American restaurant chain Taco Bell have revealed the next Australian city they are targeting in their expansion plan Down Under.

The fast food giant, which has been very tight-lipped about its development plans in Australia, has revealed today they are setting up a restaurant in Melbourne.

The move to open their next restaurant in Victoria is part of their national rollout of 50 restaurants between now and December 2021 by Australian franchisee Collins Foods.

A Taco Bell spokeswoman told News Corp Australia the new restaurant will be about 4km from the CBD and located in the inner east of the city.

It will have a liquor licence and offer dine-in and takeaway options, but it will not be a drive-through eatery.

The Melbourne Taco Bell is set to open late November, or in December this year.

“The date and location of opening is yet to be revealed however Taco Bell plans to launch with an epic opening weekend party,” a statement read.

She also said they are still looking at other states to expand in, but would not confirm their plans for the country’s larger states including NSW, South Australia and Western Australia.

Taco Bell is expected to start recruiting new local staff for the restaurant with job advertisements to go online shortly.

But she did confirm it would have some of Taco Bell’s classic American items on its menu as well as some unique Australian items which its five other restaurants in Queensland currently serve.

In Queensland, Taco Bell is available at Annerley, Cleveland, North Lakes, Robina and Southport.

All diners are offered Stacked Nachos dishes, Burritos, Quesadillas among other items.

Each restaurant is an open kitchen, customer-curated music playlists, free Wi-Fi, craft beers, frozen margaritas and regular live music sessions.

The Courier-Mail has also reported there will be two more stores in Queensland with one to open in Ipswich and Townsville.

They are also reported to be keen to open another restaurant in Bundaberg.

Recently, Ipswich City Council approved plans for the city’s first Taco Bell. The drive-through will allow for queuing for 12 vehicles, with up to 10 employees expected to be on site at any one time.

The new restaurants are part of plans to open 100 stores in Australia under Taco Bell’s parent company Yum!

Taco Bell has returned to Australia for the first time since it closed its store in Sydney 12 years ago.
