IT’S been a long time coming but finally Down’N’Out burgers is opening a permanent Sydney store.
The American-style burgers have been making Sydney drool since they popped up in the CBD a year ago in the kitchen of The Sir John Young Hotel.
But after developing a cult following, the boys behind the burgers — Archie Saliba and Ben Kagan — decided to go big or go home, and this Saturday, will open their first bricks and mortar store in Top Ryde.
Head chef Adam Cremona (ex-Miss Peaches) has come along for the ride, and diners can expect all the favourites from the CBD kitchen, regular weekly specials plus fancy new additions to the menu.
“We are finally going to be serving milkshakes. We have been trying to do this at our CBD store since opening but logistically it just wasn’t possible,” said Ben.
Kicking things off will be Oreo and Salted Caramel Thick-Shakes, with more experimental offerings on the way. Plus, with a liquor licence pending, there’ll be crazy cocktails and more to come.
“We will also be bringing our infamous burger hacks including our oozing deep-fried cheese patties and infamous hot death sauce made from the world’s hottest chillies.”
The new store will be slicker than the CBD version, but still continue the comic book theme. The space is more intimate, maintaining a small bar feel.
