A shopper has called out Woolworths after a staff member refused to pack her groceries at the checkout.
Dasha Daley, an OnlyFans content creator from the Gold Coast, said she was at the staff-managed checkout at the Surfers Paradise supermarket on Cavill Avenue when she realised the checkout worker had left the items for her to bag herself.
“The lady started scanning my items, but it wasn’t until she asked for payment that I realised she hadn’t packed them,” Ms Daley told news.com.au.
“She could clearly see I was confused and rudely asked if I had rewards and if I was paying by card, completely ignoring the fact that my groceries were still unbagged and the bags were clearly on the belt. She could tell I needed help packing.”
The blonde model admitted that she wished she had spoken up but was caught off guard and felt pressured to quickly pack the items herself to avoid holding up the line.
“Her attitude made me feel uncomfortable and awkward,” she continued, “and overall, I don’t think it was good customer service”.
Ms Daley, who posts on TikTok as @lambotrophywife, started recording the situation once she realised what was happening.
“I was confused because it’s never happened to me before at Woolies, and I thought it was the cashier’s job to pack the groceries while scanning the items,” she explained.
“I didn’t understand the reasoning behind it, as I could have packed everything myself using the self-serve checkout.”
The video of the interaction, in which she bought $68.50 worth of groceries, now has over half a million views.
“I was shocked it went viral as I didn’t expect so many mixed reactions from people all over the world,” Ms Daley admitted.
Some said she should have packed the groceries herself, while others agreed with her that the situation was “unacceptable”.
“I think everyone should be packing their groceries!” one commenter wrote.
“You could have packed while she was scanning? Were you just standing there watching?” asked another.
“Put your phone down and pack the bags,” another quipped.
Then someone who claimed to work at Woolies wrote: “Please pack your bags out of respect and because they are YOUR bags, not mine”.
But others backed up the woman, with one insisting, “They should be packing your bags!!! Woolies and Coles pack bags. Aldi doesn’t. This isn’t right. Their job isn’t to just scan, it’s to also pack”.
Another person who claimed to be a manager at Woolworths said: “This is totally unacceptable – her customer service is atrocious!”
“It’s part of your job to help customers as they are paying money, and it’s really not that hard to pack groceries,” added another.
“I hope this leads to Woolies improving their customer service moving forward,” Ms Daley concluded.
A Woolworths spokesperson told news.com.au, “Our team works hard to serve thousands of customers every day and provide a great experience.
“We have passed this feedback onto the store.”
