A new bar, created by a chocolate brand dubbed “the world’s best” by fans, is now in Coles and Woolies – with Aussies raving about it.

Chocolate melts on supermarket shelves as temps soar

A chocolate brand dubbed “the world’s best” has released a new block in Woolworths and Coles that fans have labelled “phenomenal”.

New Zealand chocolatier Whittaker’s, famed for its iconic “Creamy Milk”, recently released a Caramalised Mango and Coconut block on its home turf that was an instant hit.

It was so popular, the Kiwi confectioner decided to add the white chocolate bar to its growing range sold in Australia, where it has also been met by rave reviews.

After the $8 item, sold in both Woolworths and Coles, appeared on shelves this month, shoppers have been frothing over it – with some declaring it’s the brand’s “best flavour yet”.

“This is incredible, a match made in heaven,” one TikTok user shared.

“It’s so good, I’d honestly say it is phenomenal,” another agreed.

Meanwhile one Aussie, who claims she’s had “bad” experiences with Whittaker’s chocolate in the past, shared her shock after tasting the new 250g bar.

“Holy sh*t, that’s yum. What the actual?” she declared.

Whittaker’s said the response to the unique flavour combination has been “overwhelmingly positive”, adding the company was “thrilled” to be able to bring its chocolate to Australia with its partnerships at Coles and Woolworths.

“Many Aussies have been appreciating the unique and delightful flavour combination of our newest block,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“This reception confirms our belief that our ‘chocolate lovers’ are always looking for new and exciting chocolate experiences.

“Our Mango and Coconut block was inspired by the popular Thai dessert, mango sticky rice.”

The bar features chunks of mango fruit pieces and toasted coconut encased in Whittaker’s cult caramelised white chocolate.

“Bought, tried it, loved it. Thank you Whittaker’s, best chocolate ever,” one delighted customer wrote online.

“Whittaker’s is the best in chocolate block ever,” agreed another.

As one simply added: “Elite.”

The New Zealand brand, which is based in Porirua, on the North Island, said it’s blown away by the support it receives for its “world class” chocolate.

“It’s a true privilege to hold such a special place in the pantry and this recognition is a testament to our unwavering dedication to delivering taste and satisfaction,” the spokesperson said.

“This not only reaffirms our commitment to quality and innovation but also inspires us to continue to bring quality products to ‘chocolate lovers’ in Australia.”

Whittaker’s also won the title of “Most Satisfied Customers” in Canstar Blue’s latest Chocolate Blocks rating in May.

“Australia spoke, and we earned a five-star rating across key categories, including taste, texture and consistency, variety and range, packaging, and overall satisfaction,” the brand added.

“We couldn’t be prouder of this accomplishment, and it just goes to show that making chocolate the good, honest way doesn’t go unnoticed.

“The love and appreciation we’ve received has been extraordinary.”

It’s not the first time Whittaker’s, a family owned business that has been in operation for over a century, has caused a commotion with a new chocolate block in Australia.

The brand’s Hazella bar, made up of 33 per cent cocoa milk chocolate with a hazelnut gianduja centre, sent shoppers into a spin to when it launched in Big W stores in October.

It has proved so successful, it has now been expanded into Australian supermarkets, making it easier for chocolate lovers to get their fix.

“The Hazella block was a phenomenal success when we launched it in Big W last year, and we received numerous requests to bring it to local supermarkets too. As a result, we’ve brought it to all major supermarkets across Australia,” Whittaker’s told news.com.au.

“We have also newly released our delicious Creamy Caramel block into Woolworths and Coles, extending ranging nationwide.

“To make this block, we spent nearly three years trialling 59 different recipes to create the perfect caramel filling, a creamier, smoother, and more velvety caramel than anything we’d made previously.

“We hope it will become a firm favourite for Australians.”
