A mum has shared her hilarious attempt at a popular Bluey mudcake hack – calling it an “absolute abomination”.

Woolies Bluey mud cake hack

Cake-making is a skill that not everyone possesses.

And we have been reminded of that again this week, Kidspot reports, as a woman shared her epic Bluey cake fail with the world.

We’ve all been there – we see a quick hack on TikTok that looks deceivingly easy.

Then, we get an inflated sense of our own abilities and give it a go.

But things inevitably go awry and our well-intentioned cake ends up looking nothing like what it’s supposed to.

That was the case with amateur baker, Lucy, who attempted a viral mudcake hack this week.

The results were bad to say the least, but instead of the usual cesspool of judgment, the comments were actually filled with words of encouragement for the mum.

The ‘abomination’ Bluey cake fail

Posting to the Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks Facebook group, Lucy wrote: “Enjoy this absolute abomination – it looked easy on TikTok … Woolies mudcake was used.”

She then shared a photo of the Bluey cake – which actually looked more like a monster than the loveable TV character.

Lucy also held up her phone next to it, showing the original TikTok video from @tigga_mac of what the cake was meant to look like.

The “hack” uses just one Woolies mud cake, blue and beige icing, wafer ears and eyes made from marshmallows and Smarties. Tigga really does make it look effortless, so we don’t blame Lucy for thinking it was achievable.

But the execution proved more difficult.

We can’t exactly pinpoint what exactly has gone wrong as all the right elements are there. But altogether, it just doesn’t work.

There’s icing melting everywhere and skewers poking out of the cake that are meant to hold the ears.

Lucy also seems to have gone off-piste and used a wafer for the mouth.

‘Your version has so much character’

One woman’s disastrous cake fail is the internet’s entertainment for the day, so fellow group members were left in stitches after seeing the cake.

Lots of women also praised the mum for her unique spin on the trend.

“Well done,” someone wrote, with a second adding: “Nailed it!”

A different person wrote: “Nawwwwwwww your version has so much character. Love it!”

A fourth commented, “OMG I genuinely love it. It made me smile, thank you for sharing.”

“This has made my morning,” said another.

“This is the honesty I needed in my life. It’s very cute despite not being like the picture,” somebody else wrote.

And this member pointed out: “I love that you shared it, good on you for having a sense of humour.”

“I just showed my seven-year-old, he said, ‘Keep trying!’ Then he says to me, ‘But it looks so bad she should probably eat the whole thing’,” someone else wrote.

Others also said that their kids would still love this cake.

“I bet it still tastes awesome. My son would LOVE this cake,” one mum wrote. So who knows, maybe Lucy’s cake fail will inspire others to try their hand at cake decorating and embrace their imperfections, in all their delicious glory.
