FANS of the humble McDonald’s hash brown will be upset to hear one of Australia’s favourite fried potato treats has risen in price overnight.
The price of a hash brown has risen from $1.95 to $2.20.
A McDonald’s employee, who did not want to be named, confirmed the 12.8 per cent price hike.
“When I was working yesterday, it was $1.95, and it is now $2.20,” they said.
“This would have happened last night.”
One disgruntled customer described the price increase as “outrageous and ridiculous”.
It is unclear why the price has gone up so close to school holidays.

A McDonald spokesman told The Daily Telegraph tonight price increases to products do occur.
“We’re proud to offer our customers great value, but like all business from time to time we review our prices which may result in slight changes,” she said.
