From work colleagues to spouses, Chris and Leanne celebrate 37 years together

From working together to marriage with three kids, how Chris and Leanne’s love story began at the Kellogg’s factory.

While some couples meet at coffee shops, pubs or bars – or these days on dating apps – for Chris Stevens and Leanne Batcheldor it was their work at Kellogg’s that brought them together.

“The first time I had seen her she was covered in flour. I had come up with some samples and she was just covered head to toe in flour. That’s how we met,” Mr Stevens, 64, said.

“I started at Kellogg’s first and I worked in the quality lab. Chris started about ten months later and he was in R & D (Research and Development) and our two departments often worked together,” Ms Batcheldor, 61 said.

The flour soon turned to flowers and the pair have now celebrated 37 years of marital bliss with their love for the brand’s cereals now passed on to their three children.

“They might now tell you that we force feed them and I told them that we weren’t allowed to buy any other kind of cereals. That we’d get into trouble if work knew we bought something that wasn’t Kellogg’s,” Ms Batcheldor joked.

“Fruit Loops were also really good craft material. When I would take our kids to play group and stuff like that, when it was my turn to craft I would think ‘oh damn, I haven’t organised anything.’

“I’d grabbed a box of Fruit Loops and take them with me and some elastic, and [the kids] would happily sit there and thread their Fruit Loops onto the elastic as necklaces and thought they were the best craft ever.”

The pair told The Daily Telegraph how proud they were to have worked together for over 30 years as Kellogg’s celebrates 100 years of manufacturing in Australia.
