Now Aldi’s latest middle-aisle offering will also let shoppers help others doing it tough.

Aldi has teamed up with Red Tractor and Foodback to introduce a 1.6kg bag of rolled oats for $5.99 as part of a “buy one, give one” initiative in a bid to help ease the pressure of food insecurity.

The cost-of-living crisis is the number one reason Australians are struggling to put food on the table with 60 per cent of those households including someone who is employed, according to the 2023 Foodbank Hunger Report.

Even worse, 77 per cent of those households are experiencing food insecurity for the first time in the last year, with most being young, employed individuals or those with mid to high incomes.

“For us ‘making a Good Difference’ is at the core of our business. We have been partnering with Foodbank to help alleviate food insecurity for more than 10 years and we are certainly supportive when our supplier partners share our vision of the importance of giving back to those in the community that need it,” Aldi’s buying director of breakfast products Daniel Quinlan said.

“Customers who pick up these oats from our middle aisle can feel even better about their purchase, knowing that they have contributed to the goal of providing nutritious meals to Australians in need.”
