Australians are over the moon to discover the “world’s best chocolate” is on sale for close to half of its “luxury” price tag.

A shopper called Gemma made the discovery and took to social media to reveal that Aldi was selling Tony’s Chocolonely bars as part of its biweekly Special Buys promotion.

“$4.99, seriously?,” she asked, as the highly-coveted chocolate from the Netherlands typically retail for $8.

“They’ve got white chocolate strawberry cheesecake and the dark milk chocolate brownie,” Gemma revealed.

Fellow social media users were in awe at the deal, too, with some declaring it the best chocolate in the world.

“The dark milk chocolate brownies is next level,” one social media user commented.

Another said: “Almost half price of the big shops, wow! I’ll definitely pick one up.”

It’s not the first time that Aussies have raved about the chocolate bar, with shoppers getting excited after Tony’s Chocolonely was spotted in Coles and Woolworths last year.

Social media users were quick to spot the addition to the chocolate aisle, with many sharing reviews of the $8 sweet treat on TikTok.

“One of the best chocolates out,” popular food blogger, @nectoriouspapi, stated in a review.

Coles started stocking Tony’s Chocolonely bars recently, offering four different flavours at 200 stores in 180g blocks while Woolworths has seven flavours of the large blocks for $8.25.

Many Australians were delighted the cult choc block was now easy to find, describing it as “10 times better than Cadbury”.

However, its “luxury” price tag proved a bit too much for some amid the current cost of living crisis.

“Good, but not worth the price,” one said.

“It’s insane, but not really worth the price,” someone else wrote.

But some rightfully pointed out “it’s expensive because it supports sustainable cocoa farming”.

“Best chocolate. It’s slave-free... and definitely worth the price,” another said.
