Spring racing season is well and truly here, with a bevy of attendees stepping out for TAB Everest Day at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse.

With a record-breaking $20 million in prize money for the winner of the race – and a one-of-a-kind trophy designed by Cerrone Jewellers, replete with 550 carats of black diamonds – there’s been no shortage of glamour at the event, both on and off the field.

Leading the style set was Nicole Kidman’s niece Lucia Hawley, who has fast become a fixture of Sydney’s racing scene.

The TV host looked “angelic” in a strapless white Tony Maticevski dress, baby blue headband and Bvlgari clutch. She contrasted the outfit with a pair of black Ferragamo stilettos.

“The races are a time to have fun and be playful,” Hawley told The Daily Telegraph earlier this week.

“There isn’t one thing that I necessarily look for but rather how someone incorporates their personality into their outfit, whether with a bold accessory or a pop of colour.”

The 25-year-old’s motto when it comes to race day attire, she said, “is less is more”.

“Don’t try to do too much with your outfit. You can achieve a beautiful look without going overboard on accessories and colour.”

Racing royalty Kate Waterhouse took a colourful approach, in a striped Rebecca Vallance minidress in peppermint green and blue.

The 7 Racing reporter paired the look with a pink Paco Rabanne clutch and matching bow headband from Somewhere Here.

“I look for a combination of all. It’s the complete look from head to toe. The accessories of the hat, shoes and jewellery need to compliment the outfit,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

The right head piece, she added, is vital.

“Millinery is really important. This season we are seeing so many great options in headwear to bold statement pieces to small pieces such as bows, headbands and beautiful netting.”

Influencer Aisha Jade also opted to dress in Aussie designer, in a pleated dress by Manning Cartell with a corset bodice.

She accessorised with a teal clutch, and rather than a more traditional fascinator, wore her hair wrapped up in a turban.

Nikki Phillips also looked radiant, keeping with the blue theme in an off-the-shoulder blue gown by Australian label Suboo, and black, point-toed heels.

Former Miss World Australia Erin Holland, meanwhile, stunned in a structured blue mini dress from Scanlan Theodore and matching silk scarf.

Holland accessorised with a black Bvlgari clutch and wide-brimmed hat.

This year’s Everest is expected to draw the biggest crowd since before the pandemic.

Punters were told to leave the trackies at home for the world’s richest turf race.

All guests must adhere to the Members Reserve dress regulations. Joggers, sports shoes, thongs, “dilapidated” footwear, gumboots, slippers, jeans and denim, torn or ripped clothing, leggings, parkas, and anything showing your midriff is also prohibited.
