The Sydney Spring Carnival continued on Saturday with a 10-race program taking place at Rosehill, headlined by the $7.5 million XXXX Golden Eagle.
Sydneysiders frocked up for the event, with bright, bold colours and statement shoulders among the trends seen throughout the day.
Seven personality Samantha Armytage and husband Richard Lavender, radio announcer Jim Wilson, racing royalty Kate Waterhouse and carnival ambassador Jules Robinson were among the VIPs who attended the event at Rosehill Gardens.
Seven racing reporter Waterhouse looked resplendent in a multi-coloured, one shoulder dress by international designer Oscar de la Renta and said is was wonderful to see Sydney racing back in action.
“Everyone came together dressed to impress in Western Sydney to celebrate Golden Eagle Day today,” Ms Waterhouse said.
“Today we saw stunning gold hues and extravagant accessories, think drama and volume.
“I really missed getting dressed up and enjoying the atmosphere trackside.
“There’s nothing quite like putting on your best dress and millinery and making your way to the races to celebrate with friends and family.”
Resident Fashion Stakes Judge Donny Galella said the atmosphere was jubilant with the XXXX Golden Eagle being the first social outing for many since lockdown restrictions were lifted.
“There is a real special vibe here trackside, almost like an optimistic post Covid vibe,” Galella said.
“So much vibrant colours and prints. Women are going all out glam.
“At my table Jules Robinson has a lovely shinny golden hue and milliner Chantelle Ford is wearing a stunning bold orchid print in tones of mustard, coral and peach. I’m seeing lots of power shoulders and puff shoulders, lots of volume, lots of ruffles too.”
The final day of the spring fashion stakes competition was run and won today with hundreds of fashionista’s vying for the trophy.
Some attendees pushed the rules by wearing barely there, midriff ensembles, majority of the crowd turned heads in sophisticated and stylish dresses.
