Emergency services are searching for people after a vehicle was swept through floodwaters overnight as Sydney was bashed with a wild storm, leaving thousands without power. The heavy rainfall, which started shifting north towards the MId North Coast and into Queensland, left a barrage of damage in its wake as gale force winds and sheets of rain battered pockets of the state overnight. In the span of 24 hours, nearly 1,700 calls were made the NSW SES, 890 of which were made inside the metro area of Sydney. Two people from Bulahdelah called emergency services after becoming trapped inside their vehicles, which got caught in rising waters, and another man in Mount George required assistance after becoming trapped in flood waters, leaving him with no choice but tos it on the roof of his car until he was rescued.
