PM’s power play on US travel warnings over fires

Reprising his former role as Australia’s tourism boss, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has used his close relationship with Donald Trump to force a downgrade of US travel advice warning tourists to avoid Australia due to the bushfire crisis.

Morrison acknowledges bushfire backlash

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he will take to cabinet a proposal to establish a royal commission into the bushfire disasters as he admits mistakes were made in his handling of the crisis.

Govts chip in for bushfire-ravaged communities

NSW local councils hardest hit by the bushfires will have a $1 million in emergency assistance land in their bank accounts in the next 24 hours, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has promised. It comes after the Berejiklian State government pledged $1 billion.

HMAS Adelaide ready to begin bushfire mission

A 3000-strong contingent of Australian Defence Force reserves was mobilised within 24 hours and will be on the ground Monday across bushfire-ravaged towns while HMAS Adelaide has arrived in Eden.
