ONE of Ellen DeGeneres’ best lines of the Oscars came at the expense of Jennifer Lawrence, when the comedian cracked, “if you win tonight, we should just bring it to you”.
Lawrence, of course, had a monumental stack at last year’s Oscars on her way to the stage to accept her Best Actress nod for Silver Linings Playbook. A year later, not much changed as the star took another tumble, this time on the red carpet, and again in a stunning Dior gown.
Lawrence lost her footing while waving to the crowds assembled at the Dolby Theatre, before grabbing at her entourage for help as she hit the deck.
Lawrence was helped up to her feet by boyfriend Nicholas Hoult, clearly not bothered, but laughing and joking.
The 23-year-old, nominated this year for Best Supporting Actress for her role in American Hustle, then turned to the applauding crowd and took a bow.
Lawrence even told an interviewer on her way in to the ceremony that she had even road-tested this year’s gown on stairs at her home to ensure she wouldn’t trip — but that still didn’t avoid her taking a spill almost immediately upon arrival.
“So I guess I’m not safe,” quipped the star to reporters.
During a recent interview with The Sun, Lawrence bemoaned her tendency to trip, joking, “I look back to Oscar night and all I think of is falling flat on my face — it’s not a good memory! I feel like a jerk!”
It’s exactly why the world loves you, Jennifer!
