Mim Salvato: John Ibrahim friend’s hilarious responses to NSW Police

With police cameras rolling, officers asked Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim’s best mate Mim Salvato some questions about white powder and other items they found inside the mansion. His responses were memorable. Police recorded the raid, which was tendered in multiple court cases. WATCH THE VIDEO

Ibrahim house raids: Mim blames Ivan

When police raided John Ibrahim’s house in 2017, they spent 12 hours turning his Eastern Suburbs mansion upside down looking for incriminating evidence.

The Kings Cross identity wasn’t charged, but police found several surprises in his house, like numerous safes, bags of white powder and that his house was a communal living arrangement.

It was the climax of an 18 month police investigation that led to about 20 arrests and the simultaneous raids of the homes belonging to John’s siblings, Michael, Fadi and Jazz Dior. Police recorded each of the raids, which were tendered in multiple court cases.

The videos shed unprecedented insight on one of Sydney’s most fascinating families.

The searches uncovered a hidden pinhole camera, a confession of a drug addiction and a questionable interior design choice in the form of a very large tap in the shape of a dolphin.

Introducing Mim Salvato, the breakout star of the police search of John Ibrahim’s house.

Salvato is John Ibrahim’s long-time friend and one-time business partner.

By 2017, Salvato had moved out of his Vaucluse home and was living at Ibrahim’s house.

When the police came knocking on August 8, 2017, Salvato featured on several videos tendered as evidence in court.

According to the videos, police asked him very serious questions like “Is this cocaine?” and “Whose prescription drugs are these?”.

Like a 10-year-old revelling in being busted by the teacher in front of the class, Salvato couldn’t help himself.

His cheeky answers were delivered with a straight face that broke into a wry smile that revealed his perfectly manicured teeth.

He wasn’t shy in offering his opinions to police on a range of topics. Like how women’s fertility medication works, or who he thought owned the bag of white powder that one officer discovered in a House Beautiful magazine.

When the officers asked Salvato on film what he knew about the bags of white powder, he was quick to blame a third man who was living at the house in one of the other bedrooms.

“It’s a good chance it was our flatmate’s, Ivan Cummins,” Salvato told the police on one video that was tendered as evidence.

Asked by the police what he suspected was in the bag, Salvato said it looked like “some kind of white drug”, the video evidence showed.

But that was as far as he could go.

With a laugh and a smile, he told the officers: “Without tasting it, I couldn’t describe what it is.”

He then gave the police a detailed account about the identity of the flatmate.

“Ivan Cummins is a guy that lives just in this room here,” Salvato told the police on the video that was tendered as evidence.

“He’s an avid cocaine user and he’s been warned about keeping drugs in this premises many times — and prostitutes.”

Salvato denied he or John Ibrahim had any knowledge of the white power, insisting he and Ibrahim “are health freaks”.

Asked by the police why he suspected it was Ivan’s, Salvato said: “Because me and John are health freaks.”

When the officer asked if there was anything else Salvato could tell them about the bag of white powder, he said on the video: “Are you guys gonna keep it, or not?”

The officer said they would be seizing the bag. Salvato responded: “Well, I’ll tell Ivan that you’ve taken his drugs then.”

WHAT’S IN THE FRIDGE, MIM?

Salvato was back on camera when officers found a range of prescription drugs — and what police suspected were human growth hormones — in the kitchen fridge.

One of the items police found in the butter tray was the female fertility drug, Pregnyl, with the prescription in the name of Kings Cross identity Mark Judge, according to the video that was tendered in court as evidence.

Ibrahim house raids: What’s in John’s Fridge?

Asked about all of the medical items found, John Ibrahim told the officers: “The dummy and the three beauty products are mine, the rest I have no idea.”

Salvato had more to say.

“What’s the name of the steroid?” The video showed Salvato asking one of the police in a mocking tone as the officer looked at a box marked Pregnyl.

As the officer examined the box, Salvato chimed in with an explanation.

“That’s for women that are trying to have babies,” Salvato told the officer.

“You can look it up, if you want,” Salvato continued telling the officer in the video. “I’m not having any kind of sex change, so that’s definitely not mine.”

When the officer produced another medication he could barely pronounce, Salvato turned heads when he responded with the speed of a qualified doctor.

“That’s for women who are ovulating,” the video showed Salvato explaining.

He then pointed out that the next two lots of drugs the officers had seized to were also “for women ovulating”.

Asked by the officers, why medication in the name of Mark Judge was in the fridge, Salvato said in the video: “This house is quite communal.”

“We’ve also got other people that live here and other people that ovulate,” he explained.

The cops tried not to smile, but couldn’t help themselves.

Regardless of who used them or for what, police seized the medication and kept them as exhibits.

No one was charged in relation to the discoveries.
