NOTORIOUS nightclub boss John Ibrahim has taken the actor who plays him in the new Underbelly series under his wing, introducing him to the Kings Cross nightlife.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal Firass Dirani has become a regular at Ibrahim's clubs and spent Friday evening relaxing on a Harbour cruise with the Kings Cross identity and his proteges, David and Adam Freeman, sons of George Freeman.

"He's very supportive and giving and sensitive," Dirani said of his friendship with Ibrahim.

"He's a laidback guy - very polite, friendly and he helped me out. He's got so many establishments in the Cross and there's always places where we bump into each other."

Dirani, who is tipped to become a big star, has, until now, maintained he'd only met Ibrahim once at his Kings Cross club, Piano Room.

But after filming began on Underbelly: The Golden Mile last August, the pair became friends.

With Underbelly - which premieres on Nine next Sunday - likely to heighten Ibrahim's infamy, he is due to fly to Thailand this week and spend the next few months there.
