PLC Sydney Science Summit

Grab your lab coats and head over to PLC’s Illuminating the Possibilities science summit hosted by Presbyterian Ladies College. Open to students from any school years 9 - 12, the summit will host some of Australia’s top scientists for an afternoon filled with debate, discussions, workshops and a sausage sizzle.

From the science of making a Kit Kat to searching for alien molecules, the afternoon starts at 1 pm and is jam packed with lively and educational sessions that will get your kids excited about the endless possibilities science has to offer.

Carnival of cultures

The Carnival of Cultures is back to Ashfield Park for another year and is as vibrant as ever.

With Sydney’s inner west beaming with multiculturalism, the carnival is your passport to cultural performances, delicious dishes, market stalls and activities for all ages all within your local area.

Head on over to Ashfield Park from 10 am and make your way from stage or stage, or why not settle in for an origami workshop, or some garden games? Feeling peckish? Head on over to the diverse food stalls which includes food from Spain, Turkey, Africa and many more.

Eden Unearthed: Art Exhibition

Escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world and enter a wild wonderland at the Eden unearthed art exhibition. The exhibition is the largest privately funded outdoor art installation of its kind in the country and features pieces selected by a panel of judges, ranging from sculptures to interactive and indigenous installations.

With free entry to the exhibition, run don’t walk to get in before they close their doors on February 28 for 2019.

Author’s Platform: Todd Alexander

Gladesville Library plays host to another author's’ platform on March 5 as it welcomes Todd Alexander as he shares his latest memoir, Thirty thousand bottles of wine and a pig called Helga.

The book explores Alexander’s humorous experiences as one of two urbanites who escaped to the Hunter Valley with dreams of the good life, which is quickly burst when reality steps in.

The event starts at 6:30 pm and a gold coin donation will get you entry and light refreshments; but be quick as bookings are essential.

Eastwood Night markets

Every Saturday sees Eastwood Plaza transform into a cultural epicentre of north-western Sydney through it’s weekly night market.

Overflowing with delectable food stalls, The Eastwood night markets will see you snacking on Asian treats from China, Thai, Taiwan and Malaysia, or you can hop over to Italy for a woodfire pizza and gelato. Need a break from all the food? No problem! The market is lined with stalls selling different products each week so no two weeks will be the same.

With entertainment for the kids including a jumping castle and fishing games, it’s a great evening out for the family.
