Will James Packer reconcile with Jennifer Flavin after her break-up

Rumours abound that a reconciliation between elusive billionaire James Packer and his Hollywood based ex-lover Jennifer Flavin could be on the cards after her split from Sylvester Stallone.

Singer John Farnham is 'not out of the woods' but news from the family is 'positive'

There are some, with an excellent vantage point of such things, who believe a reconciliation between billionaire James Packer and newly single Hollywood wife Jennifer Flavin might be on the cards.

Decades after Flavin dumped Packer in 1995 to return to the chunky arms of Rocky star Sylvester Stallone, with whom she was at the time on a relationship break, she and Packer remain on good terms.

Back in 1994 when the couple were in the throes of their months-long love affair, this writer encountered them in a studio at Channel 9 and the steam emanating from the lovers, then in their 20s and exuding youth and potential, was hard to miss.

The couple only had eyes for one another with the smitten Flavin hanging off “Jamie’s” every word while media scion Packer, embracing a sort of lover’s baby talk, was unfailingly attentive to Flavin.

Like a Hollywood vet, she was also comfortable in the spotlight and very much at ease when the then shy Packer encountered photographers, Flavin either happy to take the lead or to drape herself over the billionaire-to-be, in doing so bolstering his masculine image.

They looked devoted until Sly wanted his girlfriend back and she turned on her heel and returned to become his third wife in 2007.

Last week it emerged, just days after Stallone had a tattoo of his third wife replaced with the head of his dog, Flavin has filed for divorce.

With Packer also currently single following his split last year from Kylie Lim, could a long overdue reunion be on the cards?

John Farnham’s mouth cancer a timely warning to quit the smokes — or vapes

John Farnham’s mouth cancer diagnosis should serve as a timely warning to kids who daftly have taken up vaping.

While the practice of inhaling liquid nicotine is illegal unless prescribed by a doctor (in theory to assist seasoned smokers give it up) and Australia’s drug regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration is cracking down on the advertisement of vaping products, evidence suggests we are fast losing the battle to stop our kids firing up e-cigarettes, the dangers of which are real enough though as yet greatly uncharted.

With schools now urgently installing cameras outside and around toilet blocks to catch students vaping and a cloud of “vape” now hanging in the air in non-smoking areas of pubs enjoying a surge of business post-Covid – as well as on buses, trains, trams, in cinemas, sporting arenas, shopping centres, anywhere the masses converge – it’s plain regulators have their work cut out targeting devices that are much easier to conceal than a smouldering cigarette.

Farnham, 73, has never been the preachy type and seems not to have made any public statements about having twice quit smoking prior to his mouth tumour diagnosis some three weeks ago.

But the much-loved Australian’s diagnosis presents an opportunity, as will his hoped for recovery, to talk about a habit that has long claimed the coolest among us – from George Harrison (lung/throat cancer, aged 58) to David Bowie (liver cancer thought to have originated in his lungs, aged 69).

From this kid, whose love for singing pop began with Farnham’s rendition of Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head (1970), comes the wish for the singer’s speedy recovery.
