SANDRA Sully covets her privacy too much to ever line up as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

“It is not the camping out, I would actually enjoy that,” the respected journalist and news reader told News Corp, sitting down exclusively ahead of appearing as a special guest on the Channel Ten reality show.

“It is just having the cameras there 24/7 and letting your guard down. I am not always guarded per se but you can tell they (contestants) forget they are there.”

She continued: “It is not that there are two of me. It is just that my personal life is personal so I don’t feel the need to hang all that out there. What you see is what you get, there is no pretence so I like to keep part of me for myself, my family and friends so I just couldn’t do it.”

Sully will tonight make her third appearance on the show over the past three seasons. She will bring news to celebrities, international and local, as well as personal news.

The recent Barnaby Joyce scandal will be a definite inclusion.

“I would be bonkers to leave him out,” she laughed.

Celebrities including comedians Fiona O’Loughlin and Peter Rowsthorn, boxer Danny Green and psychic Jackie Gillies have spent the past five weeks living in the South African jungle. There every move has been captured as they lived off basic rations and competed in various challenges to survive.

“It is the boredom that is the greatest struggle,” Sully observed. “It is the endless banter about sometimes nothing and the silly moments they captured and they become a headline and in my job I would never want those to be a headline. And of course the Tucker Trials I wouldn’t cope with and I am highly claustrophobic. I hate snakes. There’s no way. I am officially pathetic.”

As an aside, one of Sully’s greatest joys of visiting the show each year is the opportunity to see first-hand the work anti-poaching units are doing to help save the critically endangered Rhinoceros.

Each year she spends time with the staff at a local Rhino orphanage, Rhino Revolution, and has been vocal on social media in supporting the cause.

“This giant animal is so gentle and so sweet. I never saw them as a thing of beauty before but now I do,” she said. “We keep hearing how species are facing extinction but this has brought it home that they really are in dire need of help.”
