They say the first cut is the deepest, and certainly there’s nothing sweeter than the sight of young couples in love — for however long it lasts. And even if their famous parents think they have still got it in the love department, now it’s their offspring playing out their romances not just on the red carpet, but on social media.
You know when Millennials and Gen Z are dating because they announce their relationship on Instagram — and unfollow each other when it’s over. Brutal.
Here are the hottest young couples of 2019.
CAMILA CABELLO AND SHAWN MENDES
RUMOURS first began that old friends Mendes, 21, and Cabello, 22, were an item when they teamed up for their No. 1 duet Senorita, with the Cuban-American songstress finally confirming it last month. But recently Canadian singer Mendes revealed he’s been pining for Camila for years, telling a press conference: “If I told you the whole story of Camila, it would take a long time. You have to fight for someone you really love and, if you really truly love them, then you’ll get them.”
Ooh senor.
LILI REINHART AND COLE SPROUSE
THE Riverdale actors have been dating for about two years, but just when they went public, it was rumoured the photogenic pair had split. Happily, American actors Cole, 27 and Lili, 23, continue to post romantic messages to one another on Instagram, such as Lili’s recent post: “I tried to find a poem that I could send to you … No one else’s words could ever fit. They haven’t known the fortune it is to love you.”
LUCY BOYNTON AND RAMI MALEK
BRITISH actor Boynton, 25, played Freddie Mercury’s partner Mary Austin in last year’s smash-hit Bohemian Rhapsody and it appears on-screen love Malek is also in raptures over his co-star. American actor Rami, 38, said in his Oscar’s speech: “You’re the heart of this film, you are beyond immensely talented, you have captured my heart.”
LILY-ROSE DEPP AND TIMOTHEE CHALAMET
HE starred in Beautiful Boy, but together they make one of Hollywood’s most beautiful couples. American actor Chalamet, 23, has been dating French-American actor and model Depp, 20, for a year, after meeting on set of the Netflix drama The King. The pair was snapped having a steamy kiss on a boat in Capri last month — still, they can rest easy knowing they’ll never do anything worse than her dad Johnny.
DUA LIPA AND ANWAR HADID
THEY have been dating since June, but things really heated up when American model Anwar, 20, brother of Gigi and Bella, was spotted kissing British singer Dua, 24, at a music festival in London’s Hyde Park in July. You know it’s official when they make it on to Instagram, with Dua sharing a picture in August and the pair recently getting matching blonde hairdos.
MILLIE BOBBY BROWN AND ROMEO BECKHAM
ELEVEN dating one of the Beckham clan? Stranger Things have happened. Rumour is British actor Brown, 15, is going out with British model Beckham, 17. They are said to have been seeing each other with the approval of Beckham’s parents David and Victoria. Brown previously told reporters when asked what her hopes were for her Stranger Things character, “I don’t know. Something with Romeo Beckham.”

NATALIA DYER AND CHARLIE HEATON
IF you thought the sexual tension between Nancy and Jonathan in the first two seasons of Stranger Things was worthy of an Emmy, it was probably because they were practising around the clock. Exactly when Dyer and Heaton first hooked up in real life is almost as big a mystery as the Upside Down, but they were holidaying together in Spain in September 2016 — before season two had even started filming. The rumour mill kept spinning as they were snapped together a lot around the world, but it wasn’t until October 2017 that they appeared to publicly announce their relationship by holding hands while walking through New York City. The pair have been inseparable ever since (unless you count that time Heaton missed the Stranger Things season two premiere when he was sent home by US customs officials who found traces of cocaine in his luggage).
CARA DELEVINGNE AND ASHLEY BENSON
THEY’VE been dating for a year, with American actor Benson, 29, sitting front row at 27-year-old British model Delevingne Fashion Week appearances. But they were fairly private
about their relationship until June when Delevingne paid tribute to Benson while accepting an award in New York. “She showed me what real love is and showed me how to accept it,” she said. “I love you, Sprinkles.” The pair got matching tattoos to seal the deal.
KIERNAN SHIPKA AND CHARLIE OLDMAN
ONE of the cutest couples of the year has to be American actor Kiernan Shipka, 19, and American model Charlie Oldman, 20, son of British actor Gary Oldman. The Mad Men and Sabrina star went public with the relationship in April, when, you guessed it, they posted a photo of themselves on Instagram. Could it be magic?
SAILOR BRINKLEY-COOK AND BEN SOSNE
THE 21-year-old model daughter of Christie Brinkley has had a good year, living in Australia and getting loved-up with American artist Sosne. The American Dancing With The Stars contestant regularly posts romantic pictures of the pair on Instagram with messages like: “You’re my favourite thing in the universe and I love you with every proton, neuron and electron in my body.”
