One of Triple M’s most popular female presenters has made a shock announcement.
Loren Barry revealed on Instagram yesterday that she was no longer a member of The Marty Sheargold Show.
“All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately my time on The Marty Sheargold Show has done just that,” Barry wrote.
“Because of our listeners, this show has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life … I’ve loved, loved, loved my time on the show but I am excited for what the future holds.”
Barry had been missing from the national Triple M show for more than a week, with listeners questioning online what had happened to her.
Sheargold addressed her departure on Thursday’s podcast, saying, “her time as a producer on the show has ended”.
“She’s going to be looking at a couple of really good options for herself moving forward that’ll test her skill set more than I can offer her here, which she’s absolutely entitled to do and will do well,” he said.
“She’s staying with the group which is the most important thing, and looking to continue her growth which is what this business is about … and I’m sure that’ll be an incredibly wonderful story and journey for her.”
Barry, who previously worked with Sheargold on Nova, was an integral part of The Marty Sheargold Show, serving not only a producer but also as a co-host on air.
Given her impact on the show, some fans were somewhat surprised by the rather low-key on air announcement.
“Not even a goodbye?! Seems odd to me,” one person wrote on Instagram.
Others paid tribute to Barry, whose next radio role remains a mystery.
“You have been the best female radio presenter I have ever listened to!!! You’re funny, witty and caring but not in a fake, BS way,” one person wrote.
Barry’s departure comes two weeks after Triple M announced that The Marty Sheargold will expand in 2025.
In addition to his national 3-4pm show, Sheargold will host a drive show for Triple M listeners in NSW and Qld from 4-6pm next year.
