It was a make or break year for relationships everywhere thanks to COVID. From Michelle Bridges to Miley Cyrus, here are all the stars who ended up single in 2020.

Here are some of the Aussie celebrities who split in 2020...

MICHELLE BRIDGES AND STEVE WILLIS

Shortly after the new year, celebrity fitness trainer Michelle Bridges, 50, announced her shock split from Steve “Commando” Willis, 44, after seven years together.

The pair, who share a five-year-old son Axel, met as trainers on The Biggest Loser in 2007 and began dating six years later.

“It has been a very difficult time for me the last few weeks dealing with the break-up of my long-term relationship,” she said at the time.

ELLY MILES AND FRAZER NEATE, BECKY MILES AND PETE MANN

The following month, Bachelorette viewers were given renewed hope that love can be found on a reality show when sister duo Elly, 25, and Becky Miles, 30, appeared to hit it off with contestants Frazer Neate and Pete Mann.

However, their happy endings were short-lived with Becky eventually announcing her split with cafe owner Mann, 34, right after the finale aired.

In what was no doubt a PR nightmare for the Channel 10 dating show, soon after Becky’s disappointing outcome, Elly also had bad news about her brief romance with Neate, 28.

“We broke up over the weekend. I think we just grew apart after the show,” Elly said tearfully.

“It was really, really hard having the distance and the secrecy and I guess everything that comes along with having a new relationship in the media.”

LAURA DUNDOVIC AND QUADE COOPER

During the height of the pandemic, model Laura Dundovic, 33, and rugby union player Quade Cooper, 32, called time on their five-year romance.

The pair, who were on-and-off for several months, sold the Brisbane home they shared for $2.2 million in March.

Weeks later, after not being seen together publicly for months, they abruptly unfollowed each other on Instagram but would not publicly confirm their split.

ALI OETJEN AND TAITE RADLEY

It was more of the same for fellow Bachelorette star Ali Oetjen, 34, and season 4 winner Taite Radley, 30.

The couple’s fairytale romance ended in tears after two years together and Oetjen broke down on social media.

“You always see happy me, this is me today and has been my daily occurrence since my break-up, it’s bloody slow healing, sadness & hurt fill my whole body,” she wrote.

“Meditation, Yoga, exercise, nature, cooking, family, friends and focusing on my goals allows for my peaceful spirit to just be.

“I’ve never experienced anything like this where my soul still feels connected, I still love but know we don’t align.”

KAYLA ITSINES AND TOBI PEARCE

In proof that money can’t buy happiness, fitness entrepreneur Kayla Itsines and her fiance Tobi Pearce, who had a combined net worth of $400 million, called it quits after eight years together and one year after the birth of their daughter Arna Leia.

“After eight years together, Tobi and I have come to the difficult decision to separate as a couple,” she wrote in a statement.

“We will always be family, and remain good friends and devoted parents to Arna. We have grown up together in Adelaide, sharing a lifetime of experiences and special memories from moving into our first apartment and starting SWEAT from our lounge room to becoming parents to our beautiful daughter.

“Our friendship remains strong as we parent Arna together and run SWEAT as business partners. Thank you for your support and kindness during this time.”

MILEY CYRUS AND CODY SIMPSON

In August, pop star Miley Cyrus, 28, shocked fans when she announced her split with singer Cody Simpson, 23, after 10 months of dating.

“Right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we want to be, like everybody else at this age,” Cyrus said on Instagram.

Simpson supported the Wrecking Ball singer after her 2019 split from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

The pair were friends for 10 years before they began a romantic relationship but ultimately decided they’re better as friends.

“We are just deciding who we want to be in our lives, what we want to do, and so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re hanging out, getting pizza. We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re going to continue to be friends, so just don’t make it something that it is not.”
