The memorable mistakes made during live Aussie TV news broadcasts

NATASHA Exelby is not the first newsreader to make an embarrassing snafu during a broadcast. These are the best worst moments of live Aussie TV.

The best Aussie newsreader bloopers

TO ERR is human. To do so on a live national TV broadcast is golden.

The ABC’s decision to fire newsreader Natasha Exelby after she was caught out absent-mindedly playing with a pen at the end of a live cross has sparked outrage across the country.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten described the ABC’s response as “ridiculous”, while the hashtag #PutYourBloopersOut led Twitter trends in Australia today.

TV reporters shared some classic examples of their on-air bloopers, prompting people in a range of other industries to share their mistakes too.

Morning TV hosts seem especially prone to on-air surprises, as the above video reveals.

Natalie Barr from Sunrise got the giggles during a serious news report about a deceased plane passenger, while Virigina Trioli was forced to apologise to Barnaby Joyce after making a “he’s crazy” gesture on camera after footage aired of the Nationals Senator speaking.

Watch the video for the best of the worst of Australian live TV.
