CHANNEL 7 has had another stumble with the premiere of Take Me Out which came 4th in its timeslot last night.
The big budget dating show, hosted by Joel Creasey averaged a disappointing 604,000 viewers across the five capital cities.
The figure was on a par with the recent premiere of failed talent show Dance Boss, presented by Dannii Minogue, which averaged 599,000.
THE FRONT BAR’S SECRET RATINGS WEAPON
Take Me Out was smashed by The Block (1.068 million) and also beaten by The ABC’s 7.30 (739,000) and Australian Story (694,000) as well as Ten’s Australian Survivor (640,000).
Last night’s result continues the ratings pain for Seven which has struggled to find a 7.30pm hit.
Another recent dud was Single Wives, hosted by Fifi Box which scored a dismal 375,000 viewers on debut.
Seven bosses will be hoping the trend doesn’t continue for All Together Now, hosted by Julia Zemiro. The upcoming talent show, which also features Ronan Keating will also reportedly screen in the 7.30pm slot against The Block.
“We did not think Take Me Out was going to be a hit let alone a runaway success but … the figures are poorer than we thought,” media analyst Steve Allen said.
“The show was always going to be light and frothy. I guess the (Seven) network programmers are looking for something light and bright at a time of so much doom and gloom here and overseas.”
Take Me Out is based on the 2008 show Taken Out hosted by James Kerley and has a single man hoping to obtain a date with one of 30 single women.
Seven commissioned 8 episodes of Take Me Out.
The second episode will screen tonight.
