Stripping The Voice contestant Lou P Scarlett sends crowd wild

The live studio audience on night one of The Voice blind auditions got a little more than they bargained for during one raunchy performance.

A delightfully risque performance on The Voice sent the crowd into a spin during Sunday night’s blind auditions.

Performing a jazzy rendition of Doja Cat’s Say So, Sydney burlesque artist Lou P Scarlett left the stage littered with clothing as she stripped down several layers to nothing but a corset and frilly underwear.

But despite rowdy audience members urging judges Guy Sebastian, Keith Urban, Rita Ora and Jess Mauboy to push their red buttons and rotate their giant novelty chairs, the bold choice failed to get her over the line.

The 30-year-old artist had graced The Voice stage in a pink, fluffy Marie Antoinette-inspired gown, peeling away layers to reveal a bright yellow sequined bra and full skirt adorned with emojis, finishing in thigh-high hot pink boots and fishnets.

While the judges appeared intrigued by the lively reaction from the frenzied crowd behind them, it wasn’t enough to turn them around.

“If I had seen you from the get go I think it would have been a completely different story,” Rita Ora admitted as she gushed over Lou’s “sexy” costume.

“You look amazing … What was going on? What were you doing?,” the British singer asked, confused.

“I started like a cupcake and I ended as a little cupcake,” Lou explained to applause from the crowd.

Jess Mauboy described the choice as “brave,” revealing her own love for the craft of burlesque.

“If I wasn’t singing, that’s probably where I would be going,” the pop star said.

“Obviously, burlesque is not made for the backs of chairs,” Keith weighed in.

“It’s sad that your voice is just one ingredient in this delectable cupcake dish we’ve got going on. I wish we could have seen it,” he added as the Jess and Rita bounded to the stage to try Lou P’s outfit on for themselves.

So while the singing competition hopeful didn’t make the cut, she did get to share the stage with two music icons.
