Steve Price reveals his biggest fear ahead of going on I’m A Celebrity ... Get me Out Of Here!

STEVE Price’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity ... Get me Out Of Here! may be the show’s worst kept secret. Now he reveals his biggest fear before going in.

'Shock jock' Steve Price announced on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here'

SHOCK jock Steve Price is scared of being bored.

Speaking ahead competing on the new series of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, the 62-year-old said: “I don’t like shock jock. I’ve got a full time job. A lot of people who have appeared on this show are either between engagements or are contractors and are able to free up a lot of time. Shane Warne had to stop playing poker for five minutes but I actually have to stop a national radio show.”

Cricketer Warne appeared on the last series of the reality show that is shot in South Africa.

Price, a conservative radio host and regular on The Project, is one of 10 celebrities heading into the jungle camp for up to six weeks from tonight.

Olympian Lisa Curry is also on the show with the rest of the celebrities to be unveiled tonight, all vying for the $100,000 prize money for their chosen charities by competing in various food and physical challenges.

“I don’t want to make a fool of myself,” Price said. “My biggest fear would be the boredom factor. I’m not the sort of person that sits around doing nothing. I can’t walk out and buy the local paper, that is going to be really tough.”

Price, who currently weighs 81kgs, is however hoping to lose weight on the basic diet of beans and rice.

“They are paying me to lose 15 kilos, how do you get a job like that, someone gives you money to lose weight and get healthier.

The radio host is a keen “foodie” and has already dubbed himself “caterer in chief” of the camp before even meeting his fellow celebrities.

“That will get me through mentally as it is something to do, even if it is out sourcing herbs in the bush,” he said.

Despite his controversial reputation, Price said he won’t deliberately seek confrontation on the show.

“You don’t want some old white guy in there pushing his political views down people’s throats demanding that they listen, that is what I do in my day job,” he explained. “I don’t want to go into there and make it the Steve Price convert everyone to his politics show, that’s not what it is about, it is about having fun and I hope the audience will see a different side of my personality and see what I would be normally like when I am not on air, be it at home or away from media.”

Price did suggest US President Donald Trump would provide much to talk about in camp.

“He (Trump) is a loose cannon. We don’t know what is going to happen.”

Meanwhile, celebrities were given biscuit inspired codenames in the lead up to tonight’s season premiere in a bid to keep their identities secret.

Producers have referred to Price as ‘Tiny Teddy’, a name he found out when he arrived in Johannesburg.

“When I turned up, there was a man standing at the exit to the aircraft saying Tiny Teddy,” he said. “If I hadn’t have read (News Corp) Confidential story (on the codenames) I would have walked straight past that guy and been lost in Johannesburg.”
