SNL staffer exposes Ryan Reynolds’ behaviour as it’s revealed he ‘took over’ script

Ryan Reynolds is facing backlash after an SNL staffer revealed the star’s actions behind the scenes ahead of his infamous cameo.

SNL staffer reveals Ryan Reynolds altered their joke about Blake Lively's legal battle

Ryan Reynolds has been exposed by an SNL staffer in a new interview that reveals he took charge of his infamous cameo during the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations and rewrote the script.

In recent months, Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have faced criticism over their alleged actions behind the scenes of the Gossip Girl star’s movie, It Ends With Us.

Despite only being hired as an actress, Lively created her own cut of the movie and allegedly pushed Sony into releasing her cut over director Justin Baldoni’s, eventually getting her way.

A resurfaced clip last week then showed Lively confessing that she regularly forces her way into the creative side of projects she’s hired for as an actress, revealing that her actions have infuriated numerous directors in her past.

As Reynolds and Lively battle to sway public opinion in their favour amid their legal battle with Baldoni, the pair made their first public appearance this week at SNL’s 50th anniversary.

The pair were all smiles on the red carpet, and infamously helped open the show with a tongue-in-cheek remark aimed to make light of their legal troubles.

In a clip from the show, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler called out the Deadpool star as he sat in the audience alongside Lively.

“Ryan Reynolds! How’s it going?” he was asked.

In response, Reynolds poked fun at the recent It Ends With Us drama, quipping, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”

The line was met with what appeared to be laughs from the audience, but eagle-eyed viewers later spotted no one actually laughing in-shot, appearing to reveal that instead a laugh track had been played.

Now, an SNL staffer has revealed that the line said on the show was actually written by Reynolds himself.

He revealed SNL writers had come up with something entirely different, but Reynolds had insisted on using the line he came up with.

“That was his line. That was his. That was his idea,” said the staffer Wally Fairston. “He had a different line in rehearsal, and he pitched that to replace ours.”

Fans on TikTok rushed to poke fun at Reynolds seemingly “taking over” the script considering that’s one of the things he and his wife have been criticised for.

“The audacity of these two,” commented one, with another replying: “Wow he can’t help himself can he?”

“Of course he took over the script” remarked a third, while another said: “So you’re telling me they just went and did exactly what Justin Baldoni has been complaining about?”
